In preparations for the American Hot Rod Association’s “Nitro Showdown” May 15-16th at Desert Thunder Raceway in Midland, Texas, both “Car/Driver Pre-Entries” and “Advance Ticket sales” have a set deadline for Monday May 10th, 2010 at 12:00 P.M. P.S.T. Past this deadline, participants will be entered at the gate and tickets will no longer be available at an “Advance Ticket” price. AHRA COMPLETES NITRO SHOWDOWN DESPITE MOTHER NATURE

The inaugural race at Desert Thunder Raceway was completed Sunday May 16th, despite Tornados and torrential rainfall.
Thanks to all of the track staff and AHRA officials, the race was completed after the whole state of Texas was under siege by unseasonable weather. Car counts and attendance were less than expected due to impassable road conditions.
The track was completely under four inches of water, debris and mud, but with tireless effort by staff, the track was cleared and the end result was a completed race with new track records being set. Results and pictures will be forthcoming shortly!
SAN ANTONIO RACE CANCELLED DUE TO UNSTABLE WEATHER

The AHRA Reunion Tour race to be held at San Antonio Raceway May 22-23rd was cancelled due to extreme unstable weather patterns in Texas and the surrounding states. AHRA and Desert Thunder Raceway fought off tornados and torrential rainfall last weekend realizing that roads were unsafe and impassable for out-of-town participants and spectators to attend. At the time this decision was made we were receiving reports that areas near and around San Antonio had received 11 to 14 inches of rain and the extended forecast was calling for a 60% chance of showers and thunder storms during the scheduled event. We will be working with San Antonio management in an attempt to re-schedule this race. We hope to have an update on the status of this race next week.
AHRA AT MARION COUNTY JUNE 4-5-6

The AHRA is headed to Marion County International Raceway June 4-5-6, located in LaRue, Ohio, to present the “Big Buck” Sportsmen race. Gates will open at 3:00 P.M. Friday. A test and tune program will be run Friday night, followed by racing Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night will feature a Gambler’s Race with Sunday featuring the Big Buck Shootout. Gates open at 8:00 A.M. Saturday and 9:00 A.M. Sunday. You can pre-enter for the Big Buck Sportsmen race at www.shop.ahradragracing.com Entry fee is $150 for AHRA members and $175 for non-members.
MARION COUNTY RE-SCHEDULED FOR JULY 2-3-4

AHRA’s scheduled event at Marion County International Raceway June 4-5-6 was unable to be completed due to devastating weather in the area. We were able to race Friday, but had to call the race Saturday due to tornado activity in the immediate area. The AHRA event is now re-scheduled for July 2-3-4. Entry information, as well as event schedule and race structure, will be available next week. We would like to thank all participants, staff and management at MCIR for their understanding in dealing with this unforeseen matter and look forward to seeing all of you again in the next few weeks.
RACE CITY, CALGARY POSTPONED UNTIL TRACK COMPLETES REPAIRS

The AHRA Reunion Tour scheduled for Race City Motorsports Park has been postponed due to the incompletion of repairs to the track surface as required by AHRA through the Sanctioning Agreement.
AHRA was hoping that track management would have the surface raceable in time for this event to go forward. The lengthy Winter and wet Spring have made it difficult to make some of the repairs necessary to hold an event featuring the Pro classes that would have been featured at this race. AHRA is an organization that puts safety first and deems this facility unsafe at this time to host such an event. We hope now that the weather is showing signs of Summer, that the necessary improvements will be made and this event can be rescheduled.
AHRA PRESENTS 3 DAYS OF RACING AT M.C.I.R. JULY 2-3-4

AHRA will hold three days of racing at Marion County International Raceway, located in La Rue, Ohio, July 2-3-4. Each day will have a cash race for participants. Friday night will feature a Gambler’s Race with Saturday and Sunday staging separate Big Buck Sportsmen races each day. In addition to the Big Buck Sportsmen race on Saturday, there will be a Quick 16 with a separate purse as well. PRO-MODS & 10.5’S HEADLINE AHRA RACE AT D.T.R. JULY 23-24-25

AHRA is pleased to return to Desert Thunder Raceway in Midland, Texas, July 23-24-25 for a Big Buck Sportsmen race. Featured at this race will be the Texas Automatic Pro-Mods and the West Texas True Ten Five classes. Event schedule and purse information will be released next week.
EAGLE PLEX READY FOR JULY 10-11th AHRA EVENT

AHRA will be presenting its Big Buck Sportsmen event July 10-11 at Eagle Motorplex, in Ashcroft, B.C., Canada. Eagle Motorplex has been tirelessly working on many major track improvements this year to their track surface and additional grandstands in preparation for the three AHRA events hosted by them this Summer. The first event scheduled July 10-11 will feature the Outlaw Doorslammers and Blown Alky classes, along with a Blown Alcohol Funny Car match race, Alcohol Dragsters and fire passes by Canada’s #1 Jet Funny Car, “Rollin Thunder”. All this plus the $5,000 to win Super Pro and Pro AHRA Sportsmen classes. Street Eliminator, Motorcycle/Sled and Jr. Dragsters will be run as well. “AHRA is extremely pleased with with the track’s progress in assuring a safe, first-class facility for their racers and spectators”, stated Troy Moe, AHRA C.E.O..
